How to confirm StreamLocator Smart DNS is set-up and working

Confirming you are set-up correctly can be done in 2 ways:

  • Running our DNS tester on your streaming device directly - This will only work for devices that have access to a web browser.

OR

  • Trying to stream a piece of content that would usually be blocked like US Netflix or any of our other supported services - This is for streaming devices without access to an on-device web browser.

Below we will include instructions for both cases.

Streaming devices with web browser access:

A few examples of these kinds of devices:

  • Mobile phones and tablets
  • Windows PCs and Mac computers
  • Amazon Fire TV devices (Fire TV/Stick/Cube, etc.)
  • Some Smart TV brands like LG, Samsung, Sony - Note that not all Smart TV brands have built-in web browsers.
  • Some gaming consoles - Xbox and PlayStation 4 (Not PlayStation 5)

Confirm StreamLocator is set-up with a web browser:

  • After following our set-up guide and configuring the DNS - Open up the web browser on the streaming device itself
  • Visit our DNS testing page at URL HERE
  • If the test is successful then you are all set and ready to go! All that's left is to start streaming

If the DNS test fails:

  • Ensure you followed the set-up steps fully by double checking them
  • Ensure you restarted your streaming device after following our guide. We suggest fully power cycling by unplugging from wall power, waiting the full 30 seconds, powering back on
  • If the test still fails after doing that, please contact us at support@streamlocator.com or join our Discord server right here.

Streaming devices without access to a web browser:

A few examples of these devices:

  • Apple TV
  • PlayStation 5

Confirm StreamLocator is set-up without a web browser:

After following our set-up guide and configuring the DNS simply try streaming a piece of content that would usually be blocked for you.

If you see any errors, geo-block messages or the content does not work:

  • Ensure you followed the set-up steps fully by double checking them
  • Ensure you restarted your streaming device after setting up. We suggest fully power cycling by unplugging from wall power, waiting the full 30 seconds, powering back on
  • If the content still does not play after doing that, please get in touch with us at support@streamlocator.com or join our Discord server right here,
