How to use Roku Devices with StreamLocator.
Roku devices are different from almost all other streaming devices. You cannot install a traditional VPN on a Roku or chnage the DNS settings directly on the Devices themselves. Do you know how to use your Roku using StreamLocator? Well, we have a couple of ways for you, which we will go over below,
StreamLocator Hub:
If you own one of our hubs, connecting the Roku to the StreamLocator network couldn't be easier. If you are unsure how to do it, you can check out this quick guide here.
Smart DNS:
You can still utilise your Roku without having one of our hubs since we now also have a Smart DNS service included with our apps, sign up right here to start enjoying all the benefits of StreamLocator.
Unfortunately, as mentioned at the start of this article, Roku Devices do not allow you to alter their DNS settings, so you will need to change the DNS on your home router to use it with StreamLocator Smart DNS. You can check out our guides on some of the popular brands of routers right here.
You can contact your Internet provider for help if your router isn't listed.
Using Roku with StreamLocator:
Now that you have your Roku set up to work with StreamLocator, you may be wondering how to install those apps that are not available in your region. Another caveat of Roku devices is that they only allow you to have apps from one region installed at a time.
Let's say I want to install US-based apps, such as Hulu, Max or Paramount+, but I live in Ireland, and my Roku account is Irish, so how would I do it? Well, I will need to have a US Roku account. Luckily, this is very easy to do, and we have a guide right here that will explain this to you.
