How to change the location of your Apple ID
To install apps on an Apple device, the App Store location must match the Country in which the app is available. For example, if I want to install Hulu onto one of my Apple devices, I must have an Apple ID that is registered as a US account. Previously, you could just set up Apple IDs for every region you needed; however, Apple have recently made it more difficult to do this. Now, it is easier just to set up a local Apple ID, and then change the Country/region associated with it as you need.
The Apple ID you use to change the area must not have any account credit or active subscriptions associated with it. Therefore, it is easiest to set up a new Apple ID in your local country first and then use it to switch to other regions as needed. I will explain how below.
- Create a new local Apple ID that has no subscriptions or current account credit.
- Once created, log in to this Apple ID at https://account.apple.com/sign-in
- After you log in, choose Personal Information - Country Region
- Click on 'Change Country or Region' to open in a new tab.
- On the next page, select the Country you want from the drop-down, under payment method, choose None, and fill in the address details using any random address from the country you have selected. You can generate a random address from any country using this site.
- Use your real phone number and save the changes.
- Restart the Apple device you wish to install apps on, and then launch the appstore and it will now be located in the region you changed to.
Once you have whatever apps you want, you can change it back to your local region if you so wish.
